Madrid approves 10,700‑home Campamento urban regeneration project

The Madrid City Council will give definitive approval on Thursday to the Campamento urbanisation scheme in the Latina district, mayor José Luis Martínez‑Almeida announced during the State of the City debate. The project, led by public enterprise Casa 47, involves an investment of more than €383 million to redevelop over two million square metres of land.

The plan will create 10,700 new dwellings, of which 65 % (about 7,000 units) will be protected housing – including 3,800 public‑price‑limited homes, 2,100 basic public homes and 1,100 rental units. The remaining 3,700 apartments will be market‑rate. In addition, the scheme allocates roughly 93,340 m² for commercial use, 59,048 m² for offices and extensive public amenities, green spaces and infrastructure, including more than 8,000 new trees.

Implementation is structured in three phases, coordinated with the pending undergrounding of the A‑5 motorway. The development aims to better integrate Campamento with neighbouring municipalities such as Pozuelo de Alarcón and Alcorcón, while providing new public facilities and improving sustainability and energy efficiency across the area.
