Madrid approves over 12,000 new homes in major housing projects

The Madrid City Council has provisionally approved the transformation of a former industrial site in Puente de Vallecas into a 1,400‑unit residential complex. About 35 % of the homes will be reserved for protected public housing, and the plan includes extensive green areas, pedestrian zones and new public amenities. The development is part of the city’s broader “Estrategia del Sur” aimed at revitalising several southern districts.

In a separate decision, the council gave final approval to the Campamento urbanisation project in the Latina district. The scheme will deliver 10,700 homes, with 65 % protected under public‑housing schemes, and an investment of more than €383 million. It also earmarks space for commerce, offices, and 22 new green zones with over 8,000 trees, and will be executed in three phases pending infrastructure works on the A‑5 motorway.
