Madrid Bar backs emergency deadline protections for fire victims

The Council of Ministers approved measures that suspend administrative and procedural deadlines for people displaced by the recent wildfires in Spain. The Ilustre Colegio de la Abogacía de Madrid (ICAM) welcomed the decision, stressing that it prevents loss of legal rights for those forced to evacuate, confined, or otherwise unable to meet court or administrative obligations.

ICAM’s Service of Legal Orientation (SOJ) has set up emergency offices in Navalcarnero and San Lorenzo de El Escorial to provide advice on insurance coverage, public aid, housing solutions, and the documentation needed to claim compensation or justify work absences. Dean Eugenio Ribón explained that the service helps affected citizens navigate the complex legal and economic consequences of the disaster.
