Madrid celebrates Day of the Dead with cultural and culinary events

Madrid is hosting several events to celebrate the Day of the Dead, highlighting Mexican cultural traditions.

Casa de México in Spain has opened its ninth annual traditional altar, which this year is dedicated to composer Agustín Lara. Inspired by a cemetery in the mountains of Michoacán, the installation features cempasúchil flowers, monarch butterflies, candles, and incense. The display, which includes elements of Mexican folk art such as papel picado and cartonería, is open to the public for free until November 8.

Additionally, the Tacos Fest will take place on November 1 at The Lenovo GARAGE in Madrid. The festival features Mexican gastronomy, live mariachi music, and a competition to crown the ‘Best Taco in Spain’. The event includes family-oriented activities such as piñatas and face painting, alongside a selection of artisanal mezcal and tequila.
