Madrid Launches €3.7 M Ibor Street Regeneration Project in August

The Madrid City Council approved on 30 July a €3.7 million urban regeneration plan for the Ibor Street area in the Puente de Vallecas district. Works are scheduled to start in August and will run for 15 months.

The project, part of the Regenera Madrid programme, aims to remove architectural barriers, improve pedestrian accessibility and safety, and reorganise public space. Eight zones between Ibor Street and surrounding streets will be revamped with new green areas, additional trees, permeable paving, upgraded lighting, a playground, a calisthenics zone and other communal spaces. Emergency service access to residential buildings will also be enhanced.

Local neighbourhood association La Paz de Entrevías was praised for its role in achieving the regeneration, according to the Regional Federation of Neighbourhood Associations of Madrid (FRAVM).
