Madrid launches €95 million urbanisation contract for Nuevo Barrio Campamento

The Spanish Government, following approval by the Council of Ministers, has opened a tender for the urbanisation of the first two phases of the Nuevo Barrio Campamento project in the southwest of Madrid. The contract, valued at €94.8 million (approximately €114.8 million including tax), will be managed by the state housing entity Casa 47, which owns about 98 % of the land.

The works will allow the delivery of roughly 4,000 affordable rental homes initially, as part of a broader plan to build around 10,700 affordable units in the former military area. Minister of Housing and Urban Agenda Isabel Rodríguez announced the rapid licensing, just three weeks after the Madrid municipal council approved the project. Casa 47 has already contributed €140 million to the compensation board, and the total investment in the regeneration scheme exceeds €383 million, featuring extensive green spaces and public services.
