Madrid promotes Camino de Uclés as summer rural tourism route

The Community of Madrid is promoting the Camino de Uclés as a rural tourism option for the summer season. The pilgrimage route spans 145 kilometers across eleven stages, connecting the Monastery of Uclés in Cuenca with the Church of Santiago in Madrid.

The path passes through several municipalities in the southeast of the region, including Rivas-Vaciamadrid, Arganda del Rey, Morata de Tajuña, Tielmes, Perales de Tajuña, Carabaña, and Estremera. Travelers can explore local cultural and gastronomic heritage, visit museums such as the Casa y Escuela Rural in Tielmes, and visit the river beaches of Estremera.

Pilgrims can obtain a credential through the Asociación Amigos del Camino de Uclés for four euros, which supports the maintenance and signaling of the route. Historically, the path dates back to the Muslim era and was later granted to the Order of Santiago by King Alfonso VII. The route was officially recovered in 2010.
