Madrid region promotes environmental tourism and local heritage

The Community of Madrid has announced a program featuring over 200 free environmental activities running from October through December. These initiatives, organized across nine Environmental Education Centers, are designed for families and groups, with many sessions requiring prior reservation.

Various municipalities within the Sierra de Madrid region are highlighting their local historical and natural landmarks. Torrelodones features the Palacio del Canto del Pico and the historic Atalaya de Torrelodones, a ninth-century watchtower. In Bustarviejo, visitors can explore the remnants of a penal detachment and the Torre de la Mina, which marks the area's silver mining history. Meanwhile, Alameda del Valle offers sites such as the sixteenth-century Church of Santa Marina and the Pinilla Reservoir.
