Madrid requests cancellation of extraordinary Health Council meeting
The Community of Madrid has requested the cancellation of an extraordinary meeting of the Interterritorial Council of the National Health System (CISNS) scheduled for Wednesday. Fátima Matute, the Madrid Health Counselor, sent a letter to Health Minister Mónica García requesting that the matter be addressed during an ordinary session to allow for sufficient preparation.
Matute warned that if the meeting proceeds under current conditions, Madrid will not attend. She argued that extraordinary sessions should be reserved for urgent matters, whereas the current agenda—which includes a draft royal decree regulating prior information for consent in voluntary interruption of pregnancy—does not demonstrate such urgency. Matute stated that frequent cancellations and reconvocations are deteriorating the institutional respect required by the council.
