Madrid road tunnel and Metro line 7 shut for August construction

The M‑30 tunnel in the Badajoz direction that links to the A‑5 will be completely closed from 3 August to 24 August while demolition and reconstruction work proceeds. During this period traffic cannot use the exit to the A‑5; drivers are advised to use alternative routes such as the A‑42, Vía Lusitana, A‑6, or local streets detailed by the Madrid City Council.

Separately, Metro line 7 will be out of service between Gregorio Marañón and Pitis from 2 August until 28 August. Thirteen stations are affected and free replacement bus services have been arranged, with additional EMT bus reinforcement. The works involve renewal of signalling, track modernization and a total investment exceeding €33 million.

Both projects are part of broader infrastructure upgrades aimed at improving traffic flow and public‑transport capacity in Madrid during the summer months.
