Madrid Metro line 7 summer closure

In late July, Madrid announced that Metro line 7 between Gregorio Marañón and Pitis would be closed from 2 to 28 August for a €33 million signalling and track‑renewal project. Fourteen stations would be out of service, and the city’s EMT would operate a free replacement bus line SE7 with a 7‑minute weekday frequency. The announcement also noted parallel summer works on other Metro sections (line 6 Moncloa station closure and a brief line 9 fault) and the deployment of up to 24 replacement buses.

By early August, the plan was expanded to include a complete closure of the M‑30 tunnel (Badajoz direction) from 3 to 24 August for demolition and reconstruction, affecting traffic to the A‑5. Drivers were advised to use alternative routes. The Metro line 7 closure details were reiterated, with emphasis on additional EMT bus reinforcement and the broader goal of improving traffic flow and public‑transport capacity during the low‑demand summer period.
