Madrid to host 30th Ibero-American Summit in November
The 30th Ibero-American Summit is scheduled to take place in Madrid on November 4 and 5, 2026. The event aims to reaffirm the community of 22 Ibero-American countries and strengthen multilateral cooperation. UN Secretary-General António Guterres and European Council President António Costa will attend as special guests.
Key objectives for the summit include establishing an Ibero-American digital alliance, creating a disaster risk reduction network, and developing mechanisms for the recognition of academic diplomas to facilitate youth mobility. Additionally, Angola is set to be formally accepted as a permanent observer country within the community.
The summit follows the 2024 meeting in Ecuador and seeks to address global challenges through increased political and economic engagement between Europe and Latin America. Spanish consultancy firms and businesses are already positioning themselves to leverage the diplomatic and commercial opportunities presented by the gathering.
