Madrid installs interactive touchscreens in interurban bus shelters

The Consorcio Regional de Transportes (CRTM) is modernizing interurban bus shelters across the Community of Madrid by installing high-tech interactive touchscreens. These devices feature advanced interactive maps, allowing travelers to consult transport network data, locate stops, and access updated route plans quickly and easily.

The first phase of the project includes ten municipalities: Alcobendas (already operational), Boadilla del Monte, Getafe, Móstoles, Rivas-Vaciamadrid, San Sebastián de los Reyes, Majadahonda, Torrejón de Ardoz, Colmenar Viejo, and Alcorcón. The initiative aims to improve passenger information, enhance connectivity, and reduce reliance on personal mobile devices during waits.

Designed with universal accessibility in mind, the screens include specific functionalities for people with reduced mobility. Additionally, the CRTM has expanded its digital services by installing 19 new Wi-Fi connection points in 2025, bringing the total to 29 shelters across 13 municipalities. Other improvements include dynamic information panels showing real-time bus waiting times and solar-powered lighting systems.
