Madrid transport services resume following infrastructure works

Major transport infrastructure works in Madrid are reaching key milestones. The Cercanías C-5 line will reopen the section between Villaverde Alto and Embajadores on August 17. This follows a month-long closure initiated on July 23 as part of the third phase of works at the Atocha Cercanías station, a project involving an investment of approximately 56 million euros. The reopening restores direct service between the metropolitan southwest and central Madrid, eliminating the need for shuttle trains.

Additionally, the Metro de Madrid line 9B between Arganda del Rey and Rivas Vaciamadrid is scheduled to reopen this Friday. The closure, which began on July 25, was implemented to perform track superstructure improvements and renew expansion joints to enhance service reliability and safety. Other ongoing maintenance in the Madrid Metro network includes works on line 7 between Gregorio Marañón and Pitis, line 6 near Moncloa, and station remodeling at Cuzco on line 10.
