Madrid's Las Ventas bullfight ends with lackluster performance

An international trio of matadors performed at Las Ventas in Madrid during the eleventh day of the San Isidro fair. The bulls, sourced from Saltillo, were described as meek and failed to evoke strong action, leading to a generally dull spectacle. Spanish bullfighter José Carlos Venegas was the only matador to receive an ovation for his composed handling of the animals, while the Colombian Juan de Castilla, French Juan Leal and other participants struggled to engage the bulls, resulting in silent applause. The event attracted 17,687 spectators, roughly two‑thirds of the arena's capacity, and was marked by a lack of vigor in both the lance work and the muleta phase. Critics highlighted the poor quality of the bulls and the overall unenthusiastic display.
