2026 Spanish bullfighting season – festivals & finals

Overview

The 2026 Spanish bullfighting calendar remains densely packed with regional festivals, televised bouts and special programmes. The Copa Chenel 2026 grand final is set for 30 July at the Plaza de Toros de Las Ventas in Madrid, featuring Alejandro Marcos, Manuel Diosleguarde and Mexican bullfighter Héctor Gutiérrez, who won the public vote in the Alalpardo semifinals. Six bulls from the Salamanca ranches El Capea and Carmen Lorenzo will be fought, and the free‑access event will be attended by Madrid Community Environment, Agriculture and Interior Councillor Carlos Novillo, Plaza 1 president Rafael García Garrido and breeder Pedro Gutiérrez Moya; tickets are on sale.

On 25 July, La Línea de la Concepción’s Saturday corrida drew a crowd that filled more than half the arena, with matadors Sebastián Castella, Alejandro Talavante and David de Miranda earning multiple ear awards. Similar festivities ran in towns such as Almadén, Candelario, Tudela, Collado Villalba, Azuaga and Martín de la Jara.

The summer programme also included Contrafest in Palacios de Fontecha (25 July) and Larraga’s 24th Fiesta de la Vaca Brava. The Velada y Fiestas de La Línea continued with a novillada on 24 July and a full corrida on 25 July, followed by a concert and fireworks on 26 July.

Looking ahead, bullfighter Morante de la Puebla will headline a four‑fight series at Plaza Real in El Puerto de Santa María from 1 to 9 August. The bouts will feature the Álvaro Núñez, Núñez del Cuvillo, El Freixo and Hermanos García Jiménez ranches, be broadcast live by Canal Sur, and have seen ticket demand triple, underscoring strong public interest.
