San Isidro Fair bullfighting highlights Damián Castaño and Gómez del Pilar

The 22nd celebration of Madrid’s Feria de San Isidro took place on 2 June 2026 at the Las Ventas bullring. Toreros Damián Castaño, Gómez del Pilar and Pepe Moral faced a tercia of José Escolar’s bulls under windy conditions.

Castaño delivered a notable performance on the fourth and fifth bull, producing strong muletazos and ultimately “cutting an ear”. Gómez del Pilar struggled to mount effective passes on the sixth bull, while Moral’s attempts were repeatedly abbreviated due to the animal’s lack of vigor. A banderillero, Rubén Sánchez, was injured after a fall and was taken to the infirmary. The event drew 19 553 spectators.

The day’s shows were marked by a mix of daring passes, limited animal cooperation, and the characteristic challenges posed by the strong wind, which affected the toreros’ ability to develop their work.
