Magé and Cordeirópolis upgrade water supply infrastructure

Thirteen neighborhoods in Magé, Brazil, received reinforced water service after a construction project on Rua Altair Goulart da Silveira. The work, carried out by the concessionaire Águas do Rio, improves distribution capacity for roughly 18,000 residents and is part of a broader investment program that has installed over 30 km of new pipelines and opened the municipal water‑treatment plant (ETA Magé), capable of producing 330 L/s for about 65,000 people.

In Cordeirópolis, the municipal water utility (SAAE) and the regional water‑basin agency (PCJ) introduced the GISwater platform, a zero‑cost georeferenced management system that integrates data on the distribution network, hydraulic simulations, leak detection and maintenance. The city has pledged more than R$ 20 million to strengthen water security, and the new tool helped cut water‑loss rates from 60 % to 28 % between 2025 and 2026.
