Magé, Brazil: Health outreach serves 200+ fishermen through Projeto Águas da Guanabara

More than 200 fishermen, their families and local residents took part in a free health campaign organised by Projeto Águas da Guanabara in Magé, Baixada Fluminense. The initiative provided preventive exams, vaccinations, cardiology and dermatology consultations, dental care, and health education, aiming to improve the quality of life for artisanal fishing communities that often lack regular medical access.

The event was attended by Magé’s municipal chamber president Valdeck, the president of the Rio de Janeiro State Fishermen Federation Luiz Cláudio, and a team from Sebrae, which also opened enrolment for professional training courses. A multidisciplinary municipal health team delivered blood pressure checks, rapid tests, gender‑specific preventive care, and guidance on disease prevention, reinforcing continuous medical follow‑up for the community.
