The collectible‑card game Magic: The Gathering is releasing a new expansion titled “The Hobbit” on 14 August, with a simultaneous global launch. The set’s headline card, “The Great Smaug,” appears in a limited‑edition golden‑foil version, with roughly 500 copies across all language collector’s boosters. Additional features include five dwarf‑language versions of cards, a “Dragon’s Treasure” frame variant, and a book‑cover style card.

Pre‑release events run from 7 to 13 August, allowing players to open packs, build decks on‑site and experience the new set’s mechanics in a casual shield‑deck format.
