Magna Art Auctions to auction Pazo de Meirás assets
Magna Art Auctions is launching a controversial auction of assets from the Pazo de Meirás in Sada, Madrid. The items were removed by the Martínez Bordiú and Franco families following the judicial restitution of the property to public heritage in 2020.
The auction features 689 lots with a combined starting value of 207,700 euros. The event will utilize a hybrid format, allowing for in-person bidding, telephone, written, and live streaming bids via the auction house's website and international platforms.
José Miguel Carrillo de Albornoz, director of Magna Art Auctions, noted that while the collection includes 17th-century artworks, many items are of medium quality and resemble common household goods, despite their historical connection to the Franco family.
