Magyar Telekom demands action from Ferencváros after violent fan banners
Magyar Telekom, the primary sponsor of Ferencvárosi Torna Club (FTC), has issued a formal warning following aggressive and threatening banners displayed by a group of ultras during a match against Újpest at the Groupama Arena. The banners contained violent messages, including threats of death and physical assault.
While Telekom stated it will continue its sponsorship of the club, its athletes, and its staff, the company has explicitly distanced itself from the behavior. Telekom emphasized that threats, aggression, and intimidation are contrary to its values and do not contribute to a safe stadium environment. The company has requested a formal response from both FTC and the arena operator, Sportfive Hungary Kft., regarding the specific measures they intend to take to prevent such incidents in the future.
The incident occurs amid ongoing controversy surrounding the ‘Fradiváros’ project, involving the use of approximately 25 billion forints in state funding received by the club in 2016 and 2017. FTC President Gábor Kubatov has called on supporters to refrain from violence and threats.
