Mahamudu Bawumia calls for religious harmony and unity in Ghana

Former Vice President and New Patriotic Party flagbearer Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has called for the preservation of religious harmony and unity in Ghana. Speaking at the 2026 National Maulid in Accra, hosted by National Chief Imam Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, Bawumia emphasized the importance of embracing diversity to maintain the nation's peace.

Reflecting on the changing nature of political power, Bawumia noted how both he and President John Dramani Mahama have attended the Maulid in various capacities over the years, citing this as a demonstration of divine sovereignty. He urged Ghanaians to remain patient and tolerant, particularly the youth, and encouraged Muslims to emulate the virtues of Prophet Muhammad, such as humility, discipline, and peaceful coexistence with people of other faiths.
