Mahamudu Bawumia engages healthcare stakeholders and anti-corruption campaign

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer for the 2028 presidential election, has engaged in several high-profile activities in Ghana. As part of his stakeholder consultations, he met with the national executives of the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA) in Accra to discuss healthcare policy. The discussions focused on nursing education, healthcare infrastructure, logistics, and the welfare of frontline health workers.

In a separate initiative, Dr. Bawumia participated in the ‘Pledge Against Corruption’ campaign. He characterized corruption as a practice that steals resources from the vulnerable and the poor, emphasizing the importance of integrity over material wealth.

Additionally, religious scholar Dr. Mustapha Abdul-Hamid addressed claims regarding Dr. Bawumia’s political ambitions, rejecting assertions that his candidacy is part of an Islamic project. Abdul-Hamid argued that voting patterns in Ghana demonstrate that religious identity does not dictate political choices, noting that many Muslim-majority constituencies supported Christian candidates in previous elections.
