Mahamudu Bawumia's political and personal ties face scrutiny in Ghana
Rev. Victor Kusi Boateng, leader of Power Chapel Worldwide, has declared that he will maintain his friendship with former Vice President and NPP flagbearer Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and his wife, Hajia Samira Bawumia, despite potential legal consequences. Speaking to his congregation, Boateng stated he would rather face imprisonment than distance himself from the couple, noting that his association with them is not a crime.
Boateng’s comments follow investigations into the National Cathedral project, where he previously served as Secretary to the Board of Trustees. The project has undergone scrutiny by several bodies, including the Office of the Special Prosecutor and the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice.
In a separate development regarding the 2028 presidential race, spiritualist Dr. Power Man suggested that Dr. Bawumia requires spiritual assistance from a “powerful man of God” to achieve the presidency. Dr. Power Man also commented on the potential impact of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate selection, suggesting Bawumia would face an easier path if Johnson Asiedu Nketiah is chosen, but a more difficult contest if Julius Debrah emerges as the candidate.
