Maharashtra aims for trillion-dollar economy to drive India's growth

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis stated that the state is positioned to become a trillion-dollar economy and will play a vital role in India’s goal of becoming a 'Viksit Bharat'. Highlighting Maharashtra as India’s largest economy, Fadnavis noted a growth rate of approximately 8.8 percent in the first half of the year.

Key infrastructure and development projects include the Vadhavan Port, which is expected to be one of the top ten ports globally, and the expansion of the Mumbai–Navi Mumbai region into a national data center hub. The state is also planning modern urban ecosystems, including an 'Education City' and various specialized cities for innovation, sports, and commerce.

Fadnavis emphasized that the state is a primary destination for startups and investment. He also noted that development efforts are being directed toward ensuring growth reaches all districts, including Gadchiroli and Palghar, to support India’s broader economic trajectory as the world’s fourth-largest economy.
