Maharashtra appoints Vishwa Nangare Patil as Nagpur Police Commissioner in major IPS reshuffle

The Maharashtra government has carried out a large-scale transfer of senior Indian Police Service officers. Additional Director General of Police (Anti‑Corruption Bureau) Vishwa Nangare Patil has been appointed as the new Police Commissioner of Nagpur, succeeding the previous holder. Patil is known for his strict policing in Mumbai and is expected to reinforce law‑and‑order in the important city.

The reshuffle also moved several other officers: Sanjay Verma, former Nagpur Commissioner, is now Director General of the Maharashtra Police Housing and Welfare Corporation; Archana Tyagi has become the Judicial and Technical Police Director General; Dattatreya Shinde has been promoted to Police Superintendent of the State Crime Investigation Department's Crime Records Bureau; and a number of other officers have been reassigned to new roles across the state, including postings in Pune, Hingoli, Nanded, and other districts.
