Maharashtra approves 23.33 crore relief for rain-hit farmers

The Maharashtra government has approved 23.33 crore in input subsidies to provide financial relief to 17,245 farmers affected by natural calamities. The assistance targets damage caused by heavy rains, floods, cyclonic conditions, and hailstorms during June and July 2026.

The relief covers approximately 11,207 hectares of agricultural land across the Amravati, Pune, Nagpur, and Konkan divisions. Specific allocations include 13.80 crore for the Amravati division (Akola, Yavatmal, Buldhana, and Amravati districts), 9.13 crore for Pune and Satara districts, 38.87 lakh for Wardha district, and 41,000 for the Sindhudurg district.

Funds will be distributed via the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system to ensure transparency and prevent intermediaries. Relief and Rehabilitation Minister Makarand Jadhav Patil has instructed district collectors to ensure that banks do not divert these funds to settle outstanding loans or recovery proceedings, ensuring the money is available for crop recovery and the upcoming season.
