Overview
The Maharashtra government has implemented multiple financial assistance measures for the state’s farming community. In late August 2026, the government released a second tranche of ₹5,086 crore under the ‘Punyashlok Ahilyadevi Holkar Farmers’ Debt Relief Scheme 2026’. This disbursement, sent via digital transfer to 636,036 farmers, brought the total cumulative relief under the scheme to ₹10,115 crore for over 1.2 million beneficiaries.
Following this, the government approved an additional 23.33 crore in input subsidies specifically for 17,245 farmers impacted by natural calamities, including heavy rains, floods, and hailstorms occurring in June and July 2026. This relief covers approximately 11,207 hectares of land across the Amravati, Pune, Nagpur, and Konkan divisions. Relief and Rehabilitation Minister Makarand Jadhav Patil instructed district collectors to ensure these funds are used for crop recovery and are not diverted by banks to settle outstanding loans.
