The Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration ordered the immediate closure of Aqsa Bakery in Moshi, Pimpri‑Chinchwad, after an inspection on 20 July 2026 found the premises scored 1 out of 88 on food‑safety standards. Inspectors documented raw beef exposure, extensive pest infestation, broken flooring, damaged walls, faulty refrigeration and other sanitary breaches that rendered the bakery’s products unsafe for consumption.

The action is part of a wider crackdown led by FDA Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe, nicknamed “Singham”. Since taking office in May 2026, his agency has inspected over 400 establishments, suspending licences of notable Mumbai venues such as Parsi Dairy Farm, K Rustom Ice Cream, Noor Mohammadi Hotel and Shalimar Restaurant. The drive also mandates free safe drinking water in restaurants and has seized adulterated milk and oil worth more than ₹36 crore.

These enforcement steps aim to protect public health and improve compliance across Maharashtra’s food‑service sector.
