Maharashtra FDA suspends license of Mumbai's iconic Rustom ice‑cream parlour

The Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration has suspended the food licence of the historic K. Rustom ice‑cream parlour in South Mumbai. Inspectors found live rats, houseflies, expired ingredients, a broken cold‑chain system and missing mandatory records at the outlet located at Brabourne Stadium House on Veer Nariman Road, Churchgate. The suspension was issued under Section 32(3) of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006 and will remain in effect until the establishment corrects the violations and receives clearance from regulators. Founded in 1953, the parlour is a well‑known city landmark famous for its ice‑cream sandwiches.
