Maharashtra FDA suspends licenses of five restaurants at MCA premises

The Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has suspended the licenses of five restaurants located within the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) premises due to serious food safety and hygiene violations. The affected establishments include the Permit Room, Pavilion, Mediterranean, Oriental Swing, and Clubway & Pastry Counter.

During inspections, officials reported significant cleanliness issues, improper food handling, and the presence of rotten raw ingredients. Investigators also noted failures in freezing temperature controls, which posed a risk of food spoilage. The FDA released photographic and video evidence documenting the poor kitchen conditions.

In a broader crackdown, the FDA also suspended the license of Sankalp Mahila Industrial Producer Cooperative Society Limited in Kurla, which operates a mid-day meal canteen, citing poor housekeeping and structural deficiencies. Additionally, Cafe Cadel in Dadar had its license suspended for violations related to ventilation, pest control, food equipment standards, and inadequate water testing records.
