Maharashtra Issues Multi-Day Heavy Rainfall Alerts for 20+ Districts

The Indian Meteorological Department’s Mumbai regional centre issued orange alerts for Pune, Satara and Kolhapur districts and yellow alerts for a list of other districts—including Nandurbar, Nasik, Thane, Raigad, Ratnagiri, Buldhana, Akola, Washim, Amravati, Yavatmal, Wardha, Nagpur, Bhandara, Chandrapur, Gondia and Gadchiroli—for the period 1‑5 August 2026, warning of thunderstorms, lightning and heavy rain.

The Maharashtra State Disaster Management Department urged residents to stay in safe locations, avoid open areas, and follow instructions from local authorities. Preparations are under way to manage potential flooding in low‑lying areas.
