Maharashtra citizens stranded in Nepal and Tibet following flash floods

Following devastating flash floods in Nepal, several citizens from Maharashtra, India, were stranded in the Himalayan region and Tibet. The Maharashtra government, including Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, has been coordinating with the Indian Ministry of External Affairs to ensure the safe return of those affected.

One group of 37 pilgrims from Maharashtra, who were completing the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra, was stranded in Saga, Tibet. After intervention from state officials, the group departed via the Nyalam check-post toward Kathmandu. Another group of 110 citizens from Nagpur was confirmed safe in Kathmandu, with arrangements made for their transit through Janakpur and Bihar.

Preliminary reports indicated that approximately 80 citizens from Maharashtra were stranded due to the floods, which have caused significant destruction in Nepal. The State Emergency Operation Center has established helplines and a dedicated web portal to track and assist travelers. Authorities have been working to overcome communication challenges caused by collapsed mobile networks in the disaster-stricken areas.
