Maharashtra TET Paper Leak Mastermind Bijendra Gupta Arrested in Bihar
Maharashtra police have arrested the alleged mastermind of the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) paper‑leak syndicate, Bijendra Kumar Gupta (also reported as Bijendra Kumar Baleshwar Shah), after a months‑long manhunt in Bihar. He was taken to Pune Airport and then escorted to Bhiwandi for custodial interrogation, where investigators hope to map the wider network.
The leak prompted the postponement of the TET exam, affecting roughly six lakh candidates, and has already led to multiple arrests—including Gupta’s wife Suman Gupta and several other operatives—bringing the total number of suspects to 14. Authorities are probing links to similar exam‑paper frauds across other states and a draft bill proposing stricter penalties for organised paper‑leak crimes is under cabinet consideration.
