Maharashtra TET paper leak probe leads to seven arrests across multiple states

Police investigations into the Maharashtra Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) paper leak have resulted in a total of seven arrests. The latest arrests include Sonu Singh, Mithun Singh and Kapil Dahiya, bringing the tally to seven suspects linked to the racket that allegedly spanned Maharashtra, Bihar, Haryana, Delhi and Agra. The alleged mastermind, Bijendra (Vijendra) Gupta, remains at large while his wife, Suman Kumari Gupta, has been detained for questioning.

The Maharashtra Special Task Force and the state‑appointed Special Investigation Team have conducted coordinated raids in Thane, Patna, Vaishali and Hajipur, seizing question papers, digital devices and counterfeit documents. The leak prompted the Maharashtra State Examination Council to cancel the scheduled TET 2026 exam, affecting more than 4.28 million registered candidates.

In response, youth Congress members have staged protests outside the Mumbai legislative assembly, demanding the resignation of Education Minister Dada Bhuse and a thorough inquiry into the scandal, citing concerns over exam integrity and the impact on students’ futures.
