Maharashtra TET Paper Leak Prompts Test Postponement and Arrests

The Maharashtra state government cancelled the scheduled Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) after a question‑paper leak was discovered. Opposition parties, notably the Congress, labelled the administration a "paper‑leak government" and accused it of failing to safeguard the exam. In response, the state set up a Special Investigation Team and arrested three individuals alleged to have been part of an interstate leak network. The leak affected around 600,000 candidates slated to sit the exam at 1,728 centres across 37 districts. The exam board assured candidates that no re‑registration or extra fees would be required and promised to announce a new test date soon. Political leaders, including the deputy chief minister, condemned the incident and pledged strict legal action, while the controversy intensified criticism of the ruling party's handling of the education system.
