Mahasamund police seize 23 kg of cannabis and arrest smuggler

Police in the Mahasamund district of Chhattisgarh have intercepted a significant drug trafficking attempt, seizing 23.27 kilograms of cannabis. Acting on intelligence regarding suspects traveling from Odisha toward Chhattisgarh, the Komakhan police established a checkpoint at Temari village.

During the operation, officers intercepted a scooter. One suspect, identified as 19-year-old Amit Sahu from Nuapada, Odisha, was apprehended, while his accomplice, Shankar Yadav, managed to flee the scene. The seized contraband was being transported in a sack, intended for distribution in Raipur.

In addition to the cannabis, authorities confiscated a TVS Jupiter scooter and a mobile phone, totaling approximately 12.43 lakh rupees in seized assets. An investigation into the smuggling network is currently underway.
