Mahathir Mohamad hospitalized for observation following wife's death
Former Malaysian Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, 101, has been admitted to the National Heart Institute (IJN) for medical observation. His son, Tan Sri Mokhzani Mahathir, stated that the decision was made to allow doctors to monitor his father following a stressful period after the recent passing of his wife.
Dr. Mahathir’s wife, Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali, passed away at the IJN on September 28 at the age of 100. She was laid to rest at Pusara Negara in Putrajaya with full State Funeral honours. The couple had been married since August 5, 1956, recently celebrating their 70th wedding anniversary.
Family members reported that while the past few days have been difficult, Dr. Mahathir is currently in good condition and there is no immediate cause for concern.
