Mahindra launches updated Thar OG off-road vehicle

Mahindra has launched the updated Thar OG, a significant mechanical and aesthetic evolution of its popular lifestyle 4x4 vehicle. While the exterior features a facelift with a new five-slot grille, LED lighting, and updated bumpers, the vehicle sits on the new M_Glyde 4G ladder-frame platform.

Mechanical upgrades include a wider track by 60 mm, 232 mm of ground clearance, and a PENTALINK rear suspension with a Watts link and DAVINCI variable damping shock absorbers. The steering system has also transitioned from hydraulic to electric power assistance.

The vehicle is offered with three engine options: a 1.5-litre turbo diesel (119 hp), a 2.0-litre turbo petrol (162 hp), and a 2.2-litre turbo diesel (152 hp). All engines provide up to 330 Nm of torque. Transmission choices include six-speed manual or automatic options, with 4WD models featuring electronic rear differential locks and specific driving modes for mud, sand, and snow.

Interior enhancements include a 10.25-inch infotainment screen, wireless charging, and up to six airbags. Pricing for the new model starts at approximately Rs 10.32 lakh (roughly $10,800) and reaches up to Rs 18.99 lakh.
