Mahindra launches XUV 3XO ZNG CNG SUV in India
Mahindra & Mahindra is set to begin bookings for its XUV 3XO ZNG, a compressed natural gas (CNG) powered sub-compact SUV, in India on October 20. The vehicle features a 1.2-liter turbocharged engine producing 110bhp and 200Nm of torque, paired with a six-speed manual transmission. Mahindra claims a certified CNG efficiency of 24.7 km/kg and a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 11.8 seconds.
To maintain cargo space, the vehicle utilizes two CNG tanks positioned below the luggage compartment, providing 270 liters of boot space. The system includes a gas-leak detector that automatically switches the engine to petrol mode when the CNG supply is low. Pricing for the four available variants starts at ₹9.99 lakh ex-showroom.
The launch positions Mahindra in direct competition with Tata Motors, which has occupied the CNG SUV segment for over two years with its Nexon CNG. While the Mahindra 3XO offers higher power, the Tata Nexon provides a wider range of top-spec trim options and aesthetic variations.
