Mahindra's Chakan Plant Rolls Out 3‑Millionth Vehicle

Mahindra & Mahindra announced that its Chakan manufacturing facility in Maharashtra has produced its three‑millionth vehicle, a BE 6 flagship electric SUV. The plant, operational since December 2009, now spans 657 acres, assembles 19 models and over 450 variants across internal‑combustion, electric and commercial vehicles, and runs seven multi‑model assembly lines.

The facility incorporates Industry 4.0 technologies, including artificial intelligence, IoT, 5G connectivity, digital traceability and roughly 1,500 robots, achieving more than 98 % automation in the body shop. Sustainability measures cover over 50 % renewable energy use, 100 % renewable electricity for EV production, water positivity (returning 131 % of water used) and Zero Waste to Landfill certification. Exports from Chakan serve markets such as South Africa, Australia and New Zealand.
