Vietnam infrastructure: Major road and bridge projects underway
Vietnam is advancing several significant transportation infrastructure projects across the country. The Ho Chi Minh Road project, spanning 3,183 km from Pac Bo to Dat Mui, is expected to be largely connected by the end of 2026. While the project has faced delays, it has already upgraded over 770 km to expressway standards and aims to link the three main regions of the country while reducing pressure on National Highway 1.
In Hanoi, construction is progressing on the Thuong Cat Bridge, a 5.2 km project with an investment of over 7,300 billion VND, designed to connect the northwest of the capital to Ring Road 3.5. Additionally, the Mai Linh Bridge on National Highway 6, a 1.03 km four-lane structure, is being accelerated with plans to open its right-side section by early December 2026.
In Quang Ngai, the old Tra Khuc 1 Bridge was closed on October 18 to facilitate the construction of a new 2,199 billion VND bridge. Meanwhile, Ho Chi Minh City's Traffic Management Board is focusing on disbursing nearly 13,800 billion VND in the fourth quarter to accelerate various key transport projects and land clearance efforts.
