Majid Adineh executed in Iran for alleged ties to Israel and the US
Iranian authorities executed Majid Adineh on Sunday morning following his conviction by the Karaj Revolutionary Court. Adineh was arrested in the Mohammadshahr area of Karaj in January during nationwide anti-government protests.
The judiciary accused Adineh of conducting operational activities to benefit Israel, the United States, and other hostile groups. He was also convicted of ‘moharebeh’ (war against God), arson, conspiracy against internal security, and propaganda against the state. During his arrest, authorities reported seizing a Colt pistol, ammunition, stun guns, tear gas, a cordless chainsaw, and gasoline. While Adineh denied using the weapons, claiming he intended to assist security forces and neutralize tear gas, laboratory tests indicated the firearm had been discharged during the period of his arrest.
This execution follows a series of similar sentences issued against protesters. Human rights organizations have expressed concern over the rapid implementation of death sentences and the lack of access to fair trials. The Iranian government has acknowledged over 3,000 deaths related to the unrest, while international bodies like the United Nations have noted an increase in executions for national security reasons.
