Major art exhibitions scheduled for Ferrara and Genoa
Two significant art exhibitions are set to showcase major works spanning the 19th and 20th centuries in Italy.
In Ferrara, Palazzo dei Diamanti will host 'Da Monet a Van Gogh a Kandinsky' from September 19, 2026, to January 10, 2027. The exhibition features 120 works, many from the Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen in Rotterdam, exploring the evolution of European painting from naturalism to abstraction. Curated by Sandra Kisters and Vasilij Gusella, the display tracks the radical transformation of how artists perceive and represent reality.
In Genoa, Palazzo Ducale will host 'Renoir, Monet, Toulouse-Lautrec, Cézanne. 200 anni di arte dalla Collezione Scharf' from October 15 to May 2. This exhibition marks the first time the German Scharf Collection has been shown in Italy, featuring over 140 works. The collection includes masters such as Goya, Matisse, and Léger, as well as contemporary artists like Katharina Grosse, tracing the movement from Realism and Impressionism through Cubism to modern abstraction.
