Major highway works impact A12 in Belgium and A59 in the Netherlands

Major roadwork projects are impacting highway travel in Belgium and the Netherlands.

In Belgium, the A12 highway between Meise and Londerzeel has partially reopened. As of August 27, the direction toward Antwerp is fully accessible following months of repairs involving concrete restoration and new asphalt application. This work aims to improve driving comfort and reduce noise for local residents. The direction toward Brussels is expected to follow a similar reopening schedule around September 3 or 4.

In the Netherlands, the A59 highway is experiencing a full closure in both directions between the Hooipolder junction and the Waalwijk exit. The closure, which began Friday evening, August 28, is scheduled to last until Monday, August 31, at 05:00. Rijkswaterstaat is conducting works related to the large-scale improvement of the A27, including installing sheet piles under a viaduct, asphalt widening, and installing guardrails. Motorists are advised to use detour routes via the A27, A58, and N65/A65.
