Makarios Drousiotis seeks public funds for legal battles

Journalist and author Makarios Drousiotis has issued an appeal for public financial support to cover the costs of his ongoing legal battles. Drousiotis claims he is facing a coordinated effort by the state mechanism to exhaust him financially, physically, and psychologically.

He is currently facing 80 charges related to the ‘Sandis’ case, involving allegations of publishing false news. Additionally, he is under a second criminal investigation regarding potential personal data violations related to his book, ‘State Mafia’. Drousiotis asserts that these prosecutions are retaliatory, aimed at punishing him for his previous revelations and undermining his credibility as a witness in investigations concerning non-performing loans and real estate auctions.

Drousiotis describes the situation as an unequal fight against powerful legal firms and influential private individuals, stating, ‘Today I am alone against this system, which has the entire mechanism of the state at its disposal.’
