Makassar expands free waste fee program to more households

The Makassar City Government is expanding its free waste fee program to more households across the Rappocini and Panakkukang districts. Mayor Munafri Arifuddin stated that the expansion aims to provide relief to the community by including households with electricity capacities of up to 1,300 VA.

In Rappocini, the program is expected to cover approximately 14,977 households. Previously, the exemption was limited to those with 450 to 900 VA. To qualify for the exemption, residents are required to sort their waste at home. Participating households will be identified with specific labels or stickers to ensure compliance and visibility.

In Panakkukang, officials are currently validating data to expand the program. Once verified, the number of beneficiaries in the district is projected to reach approximately 12,361 households. Local officials emphasized that strict cross-checking of electricity usage and residency status is being conducted to ensure the program reaches the correct targets.
