Makokou undergoes commercial and infrastructural upgrades

The city of Makokou, capital of Gabon's Ogooué-Ivindo province, is undergoing significant commercial and infrastructural developments ahead of the Liberation Day celebrations on August 30.

The Centrale d’Achat du Gabon (CEAG) has launched a three-day mobile market in the city. This initiative aims to combat the high cost of living by providing residents with direct access to essential goods—including rice, oil, sugar, poultry, and hygiene products—at reduced prices by bypassing traditional intermediaries.

Simultaneously, the city is preparing for the inauguration of a new municipal market in Allarmintang. This modern facility, which includes improved access roads, is expected to be officially opened by President Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema. The project is intended to modernize local commerce and improve sanitary and urban conditions for vendors and consumers.
