Turkish agricultural sectors face rising costs and market volatility
Agricultural producers in Turkey are facing significant economic challenges across multiple sectors. In the olive oil industry, the Manisa Commodity Exchange held meetings to address rising production costs, climate change, and labor expenses. A major concern is the increase in US customs duties on imported olive oil to 12.5 percent, which officials claim creates unfair competition for Turkish exporters.
Grape and raisin producers in Manisa's Şehzadeler district have begun the harvest but report concerns over low quality and potential losses of 20 to 25 percent due to adverse weather conditions. Similarly, hazelnut farmers in the Black Sea region are dealing with high labor costs, with daily wages in Trabzon reaching up to 3,500 TL, significantly higher than recommended rates in neighboring provinces.

Malatya apricot producers are seeing prices drop from 400 to 270 lira per kilo, while small business owners in Karesi struggle with rising overheads and declining consumer purchasing power.
